How Nigerians lead a casue for SDGs Activism

 

The current trends and actions on Sustainable Development Goals of The United Nations and the fallout of the policies and actions at combating Climate Change most importantly are derivatives from different charter documents from different leaders, organizations and individuals around the globe.

Various #Youth groups have taken up several initiatives at communicating and active contributions to sustainable actions. In these series of posts we would be showcasing several programs and projects from several angles expanding from the heart of Africa to other parts of the World on #SDGs.

Global Green Communities [Founder, Adunreke Samuel Rotimi]


Samuel is a passionate Development enthusiast, a Project Management Professional and Techno-preneur. The Founder of Innovea Hubs, a youth led organization on a Global Mission to build excellence through sustainable, innovative and creative processes. He had in the past volunteered for many NGOs and a member of the Nigeria Youth SDGs drive. Having participated in several competitions and Incubation Hubs, he is informed on needs and decision for sustainable solutions leveraging technology for development.


Having identified limitations to the problems of low employ ability among youths, we are concerting efforts and to consolidate impact of our initiative and to facilitate opportunities for collective impact, by engaging a wide-range of stakeholders including Government agencies for Improving the quality of, or access to, education and skills training that prepares young people to succeed in 2030.Create skills development or lifelong learning opportunities for young people to prepare for the future workforce. Accelerate entrepreneurial skills and develop a new generation of entrepreneurs.

Improved access to digital education/skills, required to prepare a future for the 4th industrial revolution.


The rapid growth of technology and globalization as well as the Fourth Industrial Revolution is changing our daily personal and work lives. While these advancements are bringing benefits to many, millions are at risk from being left behind. It is therefore imperative to harness the world of opportunities to foster innovation and inclusion among the middle income youths by opening up lifelong learning opportunities for optimal productivity through skills requisite for workforce development. There is therefore now a rising demand for such skills and opportunities to lift millions of youth from unemployment and inherent poverty status.


In a couple of months (22 Months) have had us trained on our Innovea SkillUp program about 81 students on Internet of Things, 24 others on Soft Web Development Skills and 7 on Project Management. Over 50 on Sustainable Development through the Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). By this we hope to reach out to about 17,000 between now and 2024; and 50,000 more individuals on our decade-long goals with our quest to directly/indirectly empower them with skills that are requisite for building the next generation of young entrepreneurs across Africa by 2030.


We are creating a huge buzz around innovation and transformative and assistive technology and as part of our objectives in reaching the unreached with social impact through technology, particularly in Africa.

SustyVibes [Founder: Jennifer Uchendu]

This initiative started as an event hosting 30 individuals. Jennifer Uchendu being the leader, took a break from her work to start a blog on trainings, educating and making Sustainable Developmnet actionable among Nigerians especially the young. The Community has grown over the years to a large and internationally recognized organization.

Hosted over 40 events since 2016, and partnered with well over 50 other National and International Organizations.

Recently she got employed as a CUNCR Youth Climate Ambassador and the Epirus Declaration.
